ABOUT DANNY TRUONG
Danny is a graduate of Technical Vocational High School from the Photography Program. His dedication to his craft and ability to achieve technical excellence within the community sets him apart from others. During his years at Tec Voc, he has demonstrated his skills and abilities to capture, edit, and process images for various purposes such as social media campaigns and advertisements. He had the opportunity to document numerous events within the Winnipeg School Division, including Orange Shirt Day, Truth and Reconciliation events, the Culinary Arts program, WSD150, Remembrance Day, MIYAA, Fair Trade, Soup Wars, Stories of Hope, Science Fair, Heritage Fair and many more.
These opportunities have allowed him to pursue his passion for sports photography. Through Game On Hockey and the guidance of James Carey Lauder, he was given the opportunity to photograph the Winnipeg Ice. This opened doors for him to work with the Filipino journal as a Freelance Photographer and capture events such as Winnipeg Jets games, concerts, and other Filipino Heritage events in the city. Eventually, he would become one of the official photographers for the Winnipeg Sea Bears in the Canadian Elite Basketball League for the 2023 season. This recognition further motivated him to join the Professional Photographers of Canada as a member in 2023. He received his accreditation in January 2024 in sports. Accreditation demonstrates that the photographer is capable of delivering professional quality photography in a chosen category.
Danny competed at Skills Manitoba for Photography and placed Gold Secondary in 2022, and Silver Post Secondary in 2023. He was a national competitor for Skills Canada representing Team Manitoba in 2022–held virtually. During the 2023 National Competition for Skills Canada held in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Danny would be the Photographer for Skills Manitoba and captured Team Manitoba in their industry environments at the RBC Convention Centre with over 35 skilled trades.
Danny has been accepted into the Integrated Education program, senior stream, with a major in History at the University of Winnipeg. He plans to continue honing his photography skills while studying. Danny is someone who demonstrates mastery in his profession and meets industry standards. The challenges he has faced, the opportunities that he has been seized, and the guidance that he has provided to others embodies the qualities of a technical photographer. It is evident in his dedication, adaptability, and continuous pursuit of excellence in his photography.
